Project Description
The Intercultural Child and Family Centre serves 65 children aged 0-12 and their parents. The target market is refugee, immigrant, Aboriginal and other low income families. through a family support program the Centre provides culturally responsive family support; there is also an on-site training program to help prepare existing staff to move into post-secondary programs in Early Learning and Child Care. The Rotary club of Edmonton Glenora has worked in partnership with the Centre since May 2011 ( and will exit May 2015) as its signature project. the goal is to support the creation of self-sustaining organization and to have developed a new model of intercultural care, family support and caregiver training. As well the goal is to engage members with the parents and children in Centre activities.

Project Results
1. More opportunities for member engagement including parent evening sessions (e.g. ESL, Financial Literacy) delivered by Rotary members. 2. Arranged for building of playground fence 3. Partnered in development of a financial and business plan toward sustainability 4. Held two fund-raising events with help from the Centre and continue to raise the Centre's fundraising capacity. 5. Held book drives to build the Centre's library 6. Advocated to municipal and provincial levels to support the Centre and its operations; for example enabled significant grant to support staff training in early childhood education. 7. Provided AGLC approved funds to employ a cook to provide culturally appropriate food and funding for a family support team.
