20th Anniversary President History Video project
Rotary Club of Spruce Grove
Avenue of Service: Club Service Area of Focus: Public Relations
Country: Canada City/Region: District 5370, Spruce Grove, Alberta
Project Description
The purpose of this project was to video record an oral history of our Club in recognition of our 20th anniversary (1993-2013). 18 direct interviews were completed with Past Presidents of the Rotary Club of Spruce Grove, one interview was completed by the subject alone, and two video montages were created in the absence of the Past President in question. Each interviewee was asked questions regarding their involvement in Rotary and with our Club. Each answer was recorded as a separate video clip, uploaded to our Club YouTube account, then edited, e.g. trimmed, colour/light adjustment, stabilized. Then still photos and/or graphics related to the topic of each answer were put into a PowerPoint presentation and converted into a video format. Then the video clips relevant to the Charter Year and each of the 20 full Rotary Years were arranged using the YouTube Video Editor, separated by a transition slide, into 21 continuous videos. The interviewee who conducted his own interview lived in another province. One montage was created because the subject had passed away and the other because they were unreachable.
