Project Description
Each year we send 7-10 medical professionals to East Africa, primarily Uganda but also Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Ethiopia and Sudan. The aim is to provide training which will encourage better medical care for patients at their facilities. The ultimate goal is a reduction in the overall level of infant and maternal mortality in the service area. Project Results
World Health Organization reports the maternal mortality rate for Uganda of 600 per 100,000 live births in 1990 to 310 per 100,000 live births in 2010. We believe the work we do in East Africa is one factor that contributes to the improvement of maternal health.
